Thoroughbred Awards

Program Overview | Individual Entry Form | Campaign Entry Form

It’s time for you to be rewarded for all that hard work you did in 2009.

The annual Thoroughbred Chapter public relations contest is now accepting entries for awards that will be presented on May 11, 2010.  The Call for Entries includes 17 categories, and entries are due on or before April 9, 2010.  Scan through the document and you will see a revised list of entry categories as well as information about two individual awards the chapter presents.

Here are the three awards:

On the Call for Entries form you will find two major headings… Campaigns & Tactics… with 17 categories under those two headings.  Find one, or several, that best fit the work you’ve done.

The award goes to a person who does not work in the public relations business who the board feels has done the best job in 2009 of communicating to his or her audience about the cause or campaign they promoted.   A nominee can be offered by anyone and the nomination should come with as much supporting material as comfortable to convince the board of the nominee’s worthiness.

Recent past recipients include Dr. Pearse Lyons, the president of Alltech; Dr. George Zack of the Lexington Philharmonic and UK president Dr. Lee Todd.

This is the fifth year for the award which is not necessarily presented every year.   Nominees must have worked in the PR profession or similar communications field over an extended period of time.   A complete list of the criteria can be found on the website.

Past recipients include Tom Preston and the late Faith Miller Cole, Phyllis Combs Liebman and Phil Osborne.

Entry forms are also on the website, and are created so you can fill them out on the computer and print them out.  You have less than a month to get your entries together.   The deadline to get them to Cliff Feltham at Kentucky Utilities is Friday, April 9th.

Good luck!
