"Kathy Gannoe: Retired Executive Director of Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency and PRSA Thoroughbred Chapter's Communicator of the Year"

The Thoroughbred Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America invites you to join us at our new meeting location, the Maker's Mark Club at Applebee's Park in Lexington, on Tuesday, June 9, as we welcome Kathy Gannoe, retired executive director of the Nursing Home Obudsman Agency (NHOA) and the PRSA Thoroughbred Chapter's 2009 Communicator of the Year. Kathy will provide insight into her experience as an advocate for long-term residents in a 17-county region, which included coordinating complaint investigation and resolution; supervising and training staff; and coordinating public relations, education, financial management, program development, systems monitoring and change, and development.

About Kathy
Kathy Gannoe is the former executive director of the Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency (NHOA). She retired this past February after 25 years of being a voice for residents of long-term care who no longer have a voice.

At NHOA her responsibilities included working with a governing board, multiple advisory committees of professionals, community representatives and nursing home residents. She also coordinated complaint investigation and resolution with a variety of local and state agencies. She provided supervision, support and training to 34 employees. Additional duties included public relations, education, financial management, program development, systems monitoring, systems change and development.

Ms. Gannoe has a Master's degree in public administration from the University of Kentucky, and a bachelor of arts cum laude in American studies from Wittenberg University. She has chaired and been a member of several committees and organizations across the state. Ms. Gannoe was recently honored as the PRSA Communicator of the Year. Other honors she has received include YWCA Woman of Achievement, Howard Hines Memorial Award, Kentucky Public Administrator of the Year, Outstanding Citizen award from the Kentucky House of Representatives and Outstanding Citizen award from the Kentucky Senate.
